Federal Member for McPherson, Karen Andrews, announced today that younger veterans would benefit from an innovative local project on the southern Gold Coast that has received Federal Government funding.
Mrs Andrews said Currumbin RSL will receive $24,013.00 for a project to employ a coordinator to create and deliver a program which provides opportunities for younger veterans on the Gold Coast as part of the Federal Government’s Supporting Younger Veterans program.
“Funding this project is just one way we honour the service and sacrifice of every Australian who serves in defence of our nation,” Mrs Andrews said.
“Currumbin RSL has a proud history of supporting our local veterans and I congratulate the organisation on securing funding.
“These grants also increase collaboration between ex-service organisations and community organisations and will also lead to a national approach to services for younger veterans through the expansion of established services into new regions.”
Applications for the next round of Supporting Younger Veterans grants will be available from 1 July 2017 and will close on 1 September 2017.
