Local and tailored projects aimed at helping the Gold Coast recover from the economic impact of COVID-19 will be supported through the Morrison Government’s Local Recovery Fund.
Gold Coast Federal MPs are encouraging local groups and organisations to apply to receive funding ranging from $10,000 to $200,000.
Member for McPherson Karen Andrews MP said the Local Recovery Fund is a key component of the Local Jobs Program and will fund projects, or parts of larger projects, that are not being supported through existing programs or activities
“$780,000 in vital funding is available for developing Gold Coast projects – including mentoring, training and reskilling,” Mrs Andrews said.
“Our city has suffered major economic impacts as a result of COVID-19 – but through initiatives such as this, we can get Gold Coasters working again.”

Federal Member for Fadden Stuart Robert MP said supported projects will be locally driven initiatives – as identified in our Local Job Plan.
“The Morrison Government has recognised cities like ours need on-the-ground support to help lead our recovery. Local knowledge and collaboration fostered by this taskforce will be vital to our region achieving a COVIDsafe economy,” Mr Robert said.
“I strongly encourage stakeholders on the Gold Coast to work together and put forward innovative project ideas under the Local Recovery Fund.”
Federal Member for Moncrieff Angie Bell MP said the fund will help drive job outcomes on the Gold Coast with a focus on reskilling, upskilling and creating employment pathways.
“We are dedicated to helping people move back into jobs as the economy recovers from COVID-19,” Ms. Bell said.
“We want to hear about new ways to connect job seekers with training or employment opportunities that support improved labour market outcomes in our region.”
As part of the Local Jobs Program, 25 Employment Facilitators have been engaged to help connect job seekers to local employment opportunities.
The Employment Facilitators will chair Local Jobs and Skills Taskforces across Australia.
The taskforces will bring together local employers, employment and training providers and other local stakeholders, to collaborate and develop projects funded by the Local Recovery Fund to get job seekers back into work.
Applications for the Local Recovery Fund are now open, closing Monday 30 November, with funding available from mid-December 2020.
