Gold Coast City Council has received almost $3 million in Federal funding to deliver essential services which support jobs and the community – just in time for Christmas.
The Morrison Government is investing $23 million to fund priority projects across the Gold Coast through its $2.7 billion Financial Assistance Grant program.
Member for McPherson Karen Andrews MP said Gold Coast City Council has just received its second instalment of $2,842,782.
“The funding can be used to develop local priority projects that support jobs and communities.
“We want to see the Gold Coast thriving as we come out of the COVID pandemic. That’s why we’re providing this vital financial support,” Mrs Andrews said.
Member for Fadden Stuart Robert MP said the Morrison Government brought forward almost half of the funding total, to help kick-start the economy.
“We know the Gold Coast has suffered greatly as a result of restrictions and border closures,” Mr Robert said.
“That’s why, since June, the Gold Coast has received more than $17 million to spend on priority projects, creating much needed local jobs.”
Member for Moncrieff Angie Bell MP said the investment for local governments are vital to building safer and stronger communities.
“The City is an important delivery partner for the Federal Government’s economic stimulus packages,” Ms Bell said.
“It will be a key pillar for our road to recovery as we rebuild the Gold Coast – Australia’s tourism capital.”
