The best and brightest of Australia’s vocational education and training (VET) sector will be recognised for their outstanding achievements at the 24th annual Australian Training Awards.
Assistant Minister for Vocational Education and Skills Karen Andrews will join 78 finalists at the VET sector’s “night of nights” in Canberra on Thursday 23 November.
“These awards highlight the quality of our national VET system, and the wide array of career opportunities that can be gained from a VET qualification,” Minister Andrews said.
“Finalists go on to become members of the prestigious national VET Alumni, which provides these businesses, registered training organisation and businesses with the opportunity to join a strong network of achievers in VET and share their success stories with the nation.
“With more than four million Australians enrolled in nationally recognised training courses across more than 4200 training providers, making it to the finals is a terrific feat and they should be very proud to represent their state or territory on the national stage.”
The Australian Training Awards are the peak, national awards for VET and celebrate the outstanding contribution of VET graduates, training providers and employers to skilling Australia.
Minister Andrews said winners will be awarded in 18 categories including Vocational Student of the Year, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Student of the Year and the coveted Lifetime Achievement Award and National Achievement Award.
“It is fantastic to see finalists excelling in a wide range of VET fields, including environmental monitoring and technology, and traditional trades such as carpentry and plumbing,” Minister Andrews said.
“I wish all finalists the best of luck and look forward to seeing you all there.”
