The Turnbull Government is taking another important step in its plan to help thousands of Australians complete apprenticeships and traineeships to secure jobs and careers.
Tenders are being called to provide intensive early support for apprentices and trainees, as part of the Government’s Industry Specialist Mentoring for Australian Apprentices program.
Assistant Minister for Vocational Education and Skills, Karen Andrews MP, said the Turnbull Government’s $60 million initiative will benefit up to 45,000 Australian Apprentices and assist them in their training journey.
“The Industry Specialist Mentoring for Australian Apprentices program will provide intensive support to apprentices and trainees in the first two years of their training,” Minister Andrews said.
“The Government is committed to increasing the retention rates of Australian Apprentices in their first two years of training, in order to drive greater completion rates and support the supply of skilled workers in these industries.”
Minister Andrews said mentors will be highly skilled and possess detailed knowledge to allow them to address particular career and skills development concerns related to their industries.
“This tender is a great opportunity for organisations to work with and support apprentices and trainees in those industries undergoing structural change.”
Industry information sessions about the Industry Specialist Mentoring for Australian Apprentices tender will be held in all capital cities.
