Assistant Minister for Vocational Education and Skills Karen Andrews today announced a short extension for the review into the National Vocational Education and Training Regulator Act 2011 (NVETR Act).
Minister Andrews said, due to a health issue, Professor Valerie Braithwaite is being granted an additional period of time to complete the review of the legislative framework that governs the regulation of Australia’s VET sector.
“Professor Braithwaite’s review of the NVETR Act will help determine if the Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA) has appropriate legislative capacity to effectively regulate the VET sector,” Minister Andrews said.
“Professor Braithwaite is an internationally recognised expert in regulation and I believe there’s no one better qualified to lead this important review.
“I look forward to receiving her report and any recommendations to amend the NVETR Act and associated regulatory framework by the end of January 2018.”
