Have you got an idea for an exciting event or creative project about the wonders of science? The Morrison Government wants you to apply for a 2020 National Science Week grant.
Minister for Industry, Science and Technology Karen Andrews said grants of between $2,000 and $20,000 are available for innovative ideas, events and projects that inspire Australians to get involved in science.
“We want imaginative and skilled individuals, community groups and other organisations interested in holding an event during Australia’s annual celebration of science and technology to apply for a grant,” Minister Andrews said.
National Science Week is one of Australia’s biggest festivals, with over 1 million people participating in over 2000 events across the nation in 2019.
“This year there were 53 projects funded through National Science Week grants such as learning about healthy lifestyles in North East Arnhem Land, discovering the mathematics of music in Victoria, and exploring sustainability in the suburbs of Western Australia.
“I hope National Science Week 2020 will see even more events across Australia. The aim is to make science fun and accessible to everyone, and to showcase the contributions of Australian scientists.”
National Science Week 2020 will run from 15-23 August and applications for grants will be open until 30 October 2019.
