Community organisations on the southern Gold Coast are being encouraged to apply for a grant of up to $5,000 to assist the work of their volunteers.
Member for McPherson Karen Andrews said the funding is being provided under a new $20 million round of the Coalition’s very popular Volunteer Grants.
“This is a great opportunity for not-for-profit organisations on the southern Gold Coast to secure funding of between $1,000 and $5,000 to help make the work of their volunteers easier, safer and more enjoyable,” Mrs Andrews said.
“These grants can be used by organisations to help with costs incurred by their volunteers, and could include the cost of fuel to take seniors to the doctor, first aid training, or transport for volunteers with disability who cannot drive.”
“Community organisations can also purchase much-needed equipment, such as computers or printers, so they can keep pace with technology.”
“Volunteers are the backbone of our community – our sporting clubs, service clubs, charities, school P & Cs, SLSCs, environment groups and many other local valuable organisations. It’s great that our Government can support their work in this practical way,” Mrs Andrews said.
Mrs Andrews said the funding demonstrates the Government’s commitment to supporting the volunteers who give their time to help others and was further evidence of the Coalition’s commitment to delivering tangible benefits to the community.
