Federal Member for McPherson, Karen Andrews, announced today that Currumbin RSL has again been recognised for its work supporting younger veterans on the Gold Coast.
Currumbin RSL will receive federal grants totalling $69,500 to expand an existing program and introduce a new project to help young veterans.
“The RSL’s Connecting Younger Veterans program has been successful in helping these veterans integrate back into the community, which will now be expanded with a $40,000 Commonwealth grant,” Mrs Andrews said.
“I’m very pleased to also announce that a further $29,500 will be provided so that Currumbin RSL can launch a new project called Reboot Combat Recovery.
“Currumbin RSL has a proud history and long track record of supporting our local veterans and I congratulate the organisation on securing this funding.
“Our younger veterans deserve all the support we can provide to help them adjust to civilian life whether that’s through assistance finding a job, counselling or further education and training.
“Funding these projects is just one way we honour the service and sacrifice of those who’ve served our nation,” Mrs Andrews said.
“The Coalition Government’s Supporting Younger Veterans program increases collaboration between ex-service organisations and community organisations as part of a national approach to assist younger veterans.”
