I am honoured to be appointed to Cabinet as the Minister for Industry, Science and Technology in the Morrison Government.
I look forward to serving the Prime Minister and Liberal Leader, the Hon Scott Morrison and Liberal Deputy Leader, the Hon Josh Frydenberg.
This appointment means I am the first female federal Cabinet Minister from the Gold Coast.
I look forward to drawing on my background as a mechanical engineer to carry out my new ministerial role.
I have previously served as Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Industry and Science and Assistant Minister for Science, and I look forward to progressing the Government’s work in this area.
In my time as Assistant Minister for Vocational Education and Skills, I have worked to restore credibility to the sector and as I have recently stated, I believe the ‘green shoots’ in vocational education and training (VET) are starting to emerge again. As well, I lead the Real Skills for Real Skills campaign to raise the status of VET – highlighting VET as a first choice education pathway and a stepping stone into work.
I look forward to serving in a Government that will continue to be focused on delivering positive outcomes for the Australian people—building the economy and creating jobs.
