Local students in years 3 to 6 have the opportunity to “get creative over the holidays” to win great prizes and have their artwork feature on the official Christmas Card of Federal Member for McPherson Karen Andrews.
“These school holidays are a perfect time for students to plan and draw their entry for the annual McPherson Christmas Card Drawing Competition,” Mrs Andrew said.
“We had some wonderful entries last year – and our winning designs were seen by all local residents in the form a Christmas Card delivered to all households.”
Mrs Andrews said the theme for the drawing was “Christmas on the Gold Coast” and that students in years 3 to 6 attending a school in McPherson on the southern Gold Coast were eligible to enter.
“Parents might be looking for something to help occupy their children – this drawing competition is a great way to get their creative thinking caps on and we have wonderful prizes on offer as well.”
“Winners in each year category will get a bumper book pack, and the overall winner will receive a massive Art and Book hamper with all they need to further encourage their artistic flair.”
Mrs Andrews said that entries close on October 13 and the winner would be judged by a local panel, with judges looking for creativity, colour and interpretation of the Gold Coast theme.
“Entry forms have been sent to local schools and are also available by contacting my office on 5580 9111. I am pleased to be able to showcase our local young artists and look forward to seeing this year’s entries,” Mrs Andrews said.
