Assistant Minister for Vocational Education and Skills Karen Andrews MP today kicked off
a national conversation on preparing students for life beyond the classroom.
Minister Andrews joined educators,
industry and career representatives and parents in Darwin, for a roundtable
discussion on the development of a new National Career Education Strategy.
“The Government is committed to ensuring students receive the best possible preparation for the jobs of today and the future,” Minister Andrews said.
“Feedback from this roundtable and subsequent consultations will be critical to developing the Turnbull Government’s new strategy.”
Continuing the Government’s focus on career education in schools, Minister Andrews today also launched the Career education self-assessment tool for schools.
Developed by the Australian Government with support from the Career Industry Council of
Australia (CICA), the new online tool will assist schools to evaluate and
improve their career education strategies.
“This new resource forms part of the Government’s commitment to supporting schools and creating a highly skilled 21st century workforce,” Minister Andrews said.
“It adds to a suite of resources developed with the support of the Australian Government to
implement the Preparing Secondary Students for Work framework.”
