Community groups and sporting clubs on the southern Gold Coast are being encouraged to nominate worthwhile local projects as part of round three of the highly successful Stronger Communities Program.
Federal Member for McPherson Karen Andrews said up to 50 per cent of project costs could be funded under the program.
“The Stronger Communities Program supports practical projects in the local community that deliver social benefits, increase participation and contribute to the local area,” Mrs Andrews said.
“We have seen many great local projects funded in earlier rounds including upgrades to clubhouses, safety equipment, new bathroom facilities and a demountable building. This is a great way for our local community groups and charities to improve their facilities and assist in their great work.”
Mrs Andrews said that grants of between $2,500 and $20,000 are available to meet up to half the costs of small capital projects. There is a pre-application process and strict criteria apply.
“Interested members of community groups can start the process by calling my office for a proposal nomination form on 5580 9111. Nomination forms are due in by no later than the 25th August. A local consultation panel will then consider all proposals and selected projects will then be invited to formally apply,” Mrs Andrews said.
“If your organisation is planning a future project, this is a great opportunity for the Federal Government to support your work and help fund the costs.”
